Anthony enlisted in Citizen Military Force (Reserves) with Service No W10315 and served with 28th Infantry Battalion. He transferred to A.I.F. on 2 May 1941 and after training he was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “S.S. ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Private in No 7 Section, “C” Platoon. He was Killed in Action, 20 Feb 1942, when the Ration truck was caught in an ambush, during the first landing of the Japanese on Timor. He is commemorated on Panel 3, of the Northern Territory Memorial. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

Donald was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “S.S. ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Private in No 4 Section, “B” Platoon. He took part in the raid on Dili, on night of 15-16 May 1942 and also took part in the ambush and killing of the “Singapore Tiger”, 22 Jun 1942. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hides” on 16 Dec 1942. After leave and reorganization, he embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard S.S. “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Trooper in No 4 Section, “B” Troop. He was medevac'd to Australia aboard 2/1st Ambulance Hospital Ship on 6 Jun 1944 and was discharged 23 Nov 1944. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

Patrick was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “S.S. ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Private in No 4 Section, “B” Platoon. Patrick was Killed in Action on 2 Mar 1942 in the same action as Henry Mitchell. He was a larger than life jovial character of the unit, as every one knew Paddy Knight. He enlisted under an assumed name, his real name was William Patrick Cotter. The blue plaque is in the National Memorial Arboretum in the UK. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

Ronald served with 28th Militia Battalion from 22 Jul 1936 to 28 Apr 1939. He was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “S.S. ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Lance Corporal in Headquarters Group. He was promoted Corporal on 14 Sept 1942 and Sergeant on the 15 Sept 1942. At some point, he was posted to Headquarters, Sparrow Force. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” on 11 Dec 1942. Ronald attended an Intelligence Course from 24 Apr to 20 May 1943. After leave and reorganization, he embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard S.S. “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Sergeant in Intelligence Section, Headquarters Group and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. After further leave and reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Sergeant in Intelligence Section, Headquarters Group. He left the unit on 29 Nov 1945 and returned to Australia aboard "KATOOMBA" on 16 Dec 1945. He was discharges on 22 Jan 1946. Ronald was made a Life member of the Association in 1967. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below. He is now also entitled to the Australian Service Medal 1945-75 with a clasp "S.W.Pacific".

Frederick enlisted on 14 May 1941 and was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Signaller in Signals Section, Headquarters Group. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” on 16 Dec 1942. On return to Australia, he served in numerous Signals Units, mainly in the Darwin area, 22 Dec 1944 - 26 Aug 1945. He was discharges on 19 Mar 1946. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, Defence Medal, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

Herbert served with pre war militia Apr 1938- Feb 1940, Citizens Military Forces (CMF) Feb 1940 - Jun 1941, He enlisted in the A.I.F. on 6 Jun 1941 and was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Signaller in Signals Section, Headquarters Group. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” 11 Dec 1942. After leave and reorganization, he embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Signaller in Signals Section, Headquarters Group and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. He was discharges on 8 Sept 1945. He received the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45. Herbert served in CMF with Service No 3 / 166261 from 20 Sept 1957 to 27 Oct 1958 as Corporal Temporary Sergeant with 3rd Signals Regiment.

Cecil enlisted in Citizen Military Force (Reserves) and served two periods with 1st Division, Army Service Corps, 24 May 1932 - 8 Nov 1932 and 17 Apr 1943 - 12 Mar 1935. He enlisted in the A.I.F. on 29 Apr 1941 and was posted to Australian Army Service Corps, Sparrow Force on 29 Jul 1941. He joined the unit on Timor as a Private in the Australian Army Service Corps, Sparrow Force, after the fall of Koepang approx. mar 1942. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” on 11 Dec 1942 and was discharged on 22 Feb 1944. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, defence Medal, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

He transferred to the A.I.F. on 1 Aug 1942 and posted to Guerrilla Warfare School on 24 Sept 1942, then to 1st Australian Commando Training Squadron on 22 Dec 1942. He embarked for New guinea aboard "KATOOMBA" on 17 Feb 1943 and joined the unit on New Guinea on 25 Jun 1943 as a Trooper serving in No 8 Section, “C” Troop. He returned to Australia aboard "KATOOMBA" on 6 Apr 1944 and returned to New Guinea aboard "TAROONA" on 23 Jun 1944. He re-joined the unit on 25 Jun 1944 and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. After leave and reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Trooper in No 7 Section, “C” Troop. He transferred to 29/46th Infantry Battalion on 27 Dec 1945 and returned to Australia aboard USA Transport "TAOS VICTORY" on 29 Jan 1946 and was discharged on 11 Apr 1946. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below. He is now also entitled to the Australian Service Medal 1945-75 with a clasp "S.W.Pacific".

John (Paddy) was a member of the First Reinforcements that arrive at Dili, Timor, aboard M.V. “KOOLAMA”, on 22 Jan 1942, prior to the Japanese landing. He joined the unit as a Private. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hides” on 16 Dec 1942. After leave and reorganization, he embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard S.S. “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Trooper in No 4 Section, “B” Troop. He was wounded in action near Faita but remained on duty on 27 Aug 1943, Head and leg. John returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. After further leave and reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Trooper in No 4 Section, “B” Troop. He was appointed paid Lance Corporal on 16 Mar 1945 and promoted to Acting Corporal on 21 Jun 1945, rank of Corporal confirmed on 8 Aug 1945. John returned to Australia on 8 Jan 1946 and was discharged on 29 Jan 1946. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below. Lloyd (AKA Peter) enlisted in the Citizens Military Forces (Reserves) on 8 Nov 1939 and was posted to 27th Battery, 7th Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery (RAA). He was appointed Acting Lance Bombardier on 20 Nov 1941, transferred to the A.I.F. on 24 Oct 1941 and and transferred to 19th Field Regiment RAA on 4 Apr 1942. He reverted to Gunner at his own request on 10 Sept 1942 and was posted to Guerrilla Warfare School, Foster on 28 Sept 1942. He joined the 2/2nd in Darwin on 25 Dec 1942 and embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Trooper in the Transport Section, Headquarters group. As the unit had no transport, the Transport Sect was used as another Troop and shared the identical responsibilities of the other sections in the way of patrols.. Unfortunately, Lloyd was Accidently Killed at FAITA, New Guinea on 12 Nov 1943. He is commemorated at LAE WAR CEMETERY, F. B. 10., Papua New Guinea He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

John (Jack) was a member of the First Reinforcements that arrive at Dili, Timor, aboard M.V. “Koolama”, on 22 Jan 1942, prior to the Japanese landing. He joined the unit as a Private. He was Mentioned in Despatches for Gallant and Distinguished Service on Timor, London Gazette, 25 May 1943 and in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette, No 119-3 Jun 1943. These are the two Gazettes for the Timor Campaign. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hides” on 16 Dec 1942. He embarked for New Guinea aboard “KATOOMBA” on 27 Aug 1943 as a Trooper and re joined the unit on 6 Nov 1943. He was Medevac to Australia aboard 2/1st Australian Hospital Ship on 13 Jun 1944. He re joined the unit on 4 Oct 1944 and after leave and reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Trooper. He left the unit on New Britain on 8 Jan 1946 and arrived Sydney on 18 Jan 1946. He was discharged on 11 Jun 1946. He was entitled to a 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, see below. He is now entitled to an Australian Service Medal 1945-75 with clasp "S.W. Pacific"

Original 2/40th Battalion member, made his way up from Koepang end of Timor and joined unit, date unknown. After training he was allotted to "D" Platoon. Doig has his in 13 Section. Evacuated from Timor and arrived Darwin 19th Aug 1942 and Hospitalised. Did not re-join unit. Discharged 17th Jul 1945.

As the unit had no transport, the Transport Sect was used as another Commando section. He returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. He was posted to 1st Australian Commando Training Battalion 3 May1943 and re-joined the 2/2nd on 15 May 1943. Stanley transferred to Far Eastern Liaison Office (Propaganda and Intelligence) on 30 Jan 1945 and flew to MOROTAI on 3 May 1945 and flew to Australia on 30 Sept 1945. He was discharged 7 Nov 1945. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

Charles was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “S.S. ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Private, in No 4 Section, “B” Platoon. He took part in the raid on Dili with No 4 Section. Also believed to have served in No 13 Section, “D” Platoon. He was appointed Lance Corporal on 1 Sept 1942 and after the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” on 16 Dec 1942. After leave and reorganization, he embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard S.S. “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Lance Corporal in No 4 Section, “B” Troop. He was appointed paid Lance Corporal on 1 Jul 1943. Charlie left the unit on 4 Mar 1944 and returned to Australia aboard "ORMISTON" on 30 Mar 1944. He was discharged on 26 Jan 1945. Charles was made a Life Member of the Association in 1982. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

Joseph enlisted on 12 Apr 1944 and after recruit and infantry training, he attended 1st Australian Commando Training Battalion on 15 Jan 1945. He joined the 2/2nd on 2 Apr 1945 and embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Trooper in No 7 Section, “C” Troop. He returned to Australia aboard "TAROONA" on 15 Sept 1945 and was discharged on 11 Jun 1946. He was entitled to the Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below. He may now be entitled to the 1939-45 Star.

John was a member of the 2/40th Battalion and after the fall of Koepang, he was one of approx. 200 men, who made their way to Portuguese Timor and joined the 2/2nd. He was evacuated seriously ill, from Timor aboard “KURU”, from BETANO on 2 Sept 1942 and after extensive medical treatment was discharged on 11 Feb 1944. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

Basil enlisted on 1 Jul 1940 and was posted to 2/40th Infantry Battalion. He joined the unit on Timor from 2/40 Battalion, after the fall of Koepang, approx. March 1942 and left Timor on 22 Sept 1942. He transferred to 40th Infantry Battalion on 23 Oct 1942 and then to 28th Australian Light Aid Detachment, serving the rest of the war in Darwin. He was discharged on 22 Nov 1945. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, Defence Medal, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

Charles enlisted on 22 Oct 1940 and was posted to 2/40th Battalion. He embarked for Timor on 8 Dec 1941 and joined the 2/2nd on Timor from 2/40 Battalion, after the fall of Koepang, approx. March 1942. He was one of the former Koepang men, who moved to the village of Mape for intensive commando training and, on 8 May 1942, was sent to one of the 2/2nd Sections. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” on 16 Dec 1942 as a Private. He was discharged on 3 Jan 1945. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, Defence Medal, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

Sydney enlisted on 30 Jul 1940 and was posted to 2/40th Battalion. He was promoted Acting Corporal on 30 Jun 1941 and transferred to 8th Division Postal Unit same day, confirmed Corporal on 30 Aug 1941 and embarked for Timor on 8 Dec 1941. He joined the 2/2nd from the 8th Division Postal Unit. He served in Sparrow Force Head Quarters. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” on 16 Dec 1942 as a Corporal. He transferred to 2nd Australian Base Postal Unit on 21 Apr 1943. He was temporary detached to Allied Geographical Section 28 Aug to 8 Sept 1944 and served the remainder of the war with 2nd Australian Base Postal Unit. He was discharged on 30 May 1945. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, Defence Medal, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

Wilfred was a member of the 2/40th Battalion and after the fall of Koepang, he was one of approx. 200 men, who made their way to Portuguese Timor and joined the 2/2nd. Little is known of Wilfred, other than he returned to Australia and was discharged on 15 Jul 1948. He also had the service No 69284 and serve with the British Commonwealth Occupation Force (BCOF) in Japan Service papers are not available..

Murray enlisted in the Citizens Military Force (Reserve) on16 Mar 1942 with service No V250577 and after training was posted to 4th Australian Division, Australian Army Service Corps (AASC) in Western Australia. He transferred to the A.I.F. on 25 Aug 1942. He was posted to the Australian Jungle Training Centre in Queensland on 15 Aug 1944 and posted to Headquarters, 1st Australian Base Area, Qld (HQ 1 ABA) on 7 Nov 1944. Attended No 24 Motor Transport Conversion School on 18 Nov 1944 and returned to HQ 1 ABA on 8 Dec 1944. He transferred to the 2/2nd on 5 Apr 1944 and embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Trooper. Murray transferred to "D" Company, 67th Infantry battalion on 6 Dec 1945 and embarked for Morotai aboard Landing Ship Troops 419 on 10 Dec 1945. He transferred to 34th Brigade Signals on 17 Dec 1945 and embarked for Japan aboard "TAOS VICTORY" on 15 Feb 1946. He transferred to 120th Australian General Transport Platoon on 25 May 1946 and returned to Australia aboard "KANIMBLA" on 22 Jun 1947. He was discharged on 25 Aug 1947. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below. He is now also entitled to the Australian Service Medal 1945-75 with a clasp "JAPAN".
