    John was a member of the 2/40th Battalion and after the fall of Koepang, he was one of approx. 200 men, who made their way to Portuguese Timor and joined the 2/2nd.

    He was evacuated seriously ill, from Timor aboard “KURU”, from BETANO on 2 Sept 1942 and after extensive medical treatment was discharged on 11 Feb 1944.

    He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.
