He transferred to the A.I.F. on 2 May 1941 and was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Private in No 1 Section, “A” Platoon. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” on 11 Dec 1942. He transferred to 53rd Port Craft Company on 26 Dec 1945 and then to 44th Australian Landing Craft Company on 2 Feb 1946. Raymond was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “S.S. ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Private in No 5 Section, “B” Platoon. He was Mentioned in Despatches, for Gallant and Distinguished Service, London Gazette, 25 May 1943 and in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette, No 119-3 Jun 1943. These are the two Gazettes for the Timor Campaign. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” on either 11 Dec 1942 or 16 Dec 1942, as the embarkation rolls do not differentiate. After leave and reorganization, he embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard S.S. “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Trooper in No 5 Section, “B” Troop and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. After further leave and reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Trooper in No 5 Section, “B” Troop. He transferred to 53rd Port Craft Company on 22 Mar 1946 and was discharged on 22 Mar 1946. Ray re-enlisted for the Korean War with Service No 5400049 and served with 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment from 26 Dec 1950 to 26 Dec 1951. During that period, the 3rd Battalion (800) was involved in the “Battle of Kapyong” between 22- 25 Apr 1950 against a Chinese Division (10,000) and the battalion was awarded an American “Presidential Unit Citation” and Ray was awarded a Military Medal, London Gazette dated 25 Jan 1952. CITATION “On the night of the 23rd APRIL, 1951, Corporal PARRY was given a small knoll slightly to the rear of “B” Coy’s perimeter, to man with a Light Machine Gun and three men. On information that the enemy had infiltrated our lines and large numbers were forming up below the knoll to attack the Coy position, Corporal PARRY leaving the remainder of his section under command of his 2 i/c, proceeded to the knoll. As he arrived at the Light Machine Gun outpost at approximately 0400hrs, the enemy, fifty in number launched their attack. By brilliant use of fire power under his command and inspiring leadership, the attack was smashed; the enemy being forced to withdraw, leaving behind dead and wounded. Three further enemy attacks were made on the outpost in the next twenty minutes, these being repulsed in the same determined manner as the first. The knoll was to the rear of “B” Coy’s position, and had this fallen to the enemy they could have dominated the Coy’s perimeter. There is no doubt that Corporal PARRY’s quick appreciation of the situation and brilliant leadership together with his determination to hold vital ground, was directly responsible for the Coy’s perimeter being kept intact and at the same time thoroughly disorganising the enemy. Ten enemy dead were counted after the first attack and as day broke a further thirteen dead were found on the lower slopes.” Ray served as a Sergeant at the Battle of Maryang San between 3-8 Oct 1951. Thomas enlisted in the Citizens Military Force (Reserve) with Service No W1125 on 14 Dec 1940 and was posted to 10th Light Horse Regiment. He was called up for full time duty on 17 Dec 1941 and transferred to the A.I.F. on 12 Feb 1943. He transferred to 16th Infantry Battalion on 9 Jun 1944 and was posted to 1st Australian Commando Training Battalion on 27 Nov 1944. He joined the 2/2nd on 30 Jan 1945 and embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Trooper. He returned to Australia by plane on 22 May 1945 and was discharged on 30 May 1945. He was entitled to the Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

Norman enlisted on 7 May 1941 and was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Private in Headquarters Section, “C” Platoon. Later joining No 7 Section, “C” Platoon. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” on 16 Dec 1942. In hospital for some time, then stowed away aboard “VAN HENTY” for New Guinea on 16 Aug 1943 and re-joined the unit on 2 Nov 1943. He returned to Australia aboard “TAROONA” on 10 Apr 1944 and in hospital for some time again. Norman was promoted to Corporal on 3 Oct 1945 and transferred to Marrinup P.O.W. camp on 29 Jan 1946 and was discharged on 31 May 1946. Robert was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “S.S. ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Corporal in No 3 Section, “A” Platoon. The Embarkation Roll has him embarking at “Betano” for Australia aboard the “KURU” as a Lance Sergeant on 19 Nov 1942 but his service papers state he was commissioned Lieutenant on 4 Jul 1942. Transferred as an Instructor to 1st Australian Commando Training Squadron on 25 Jul 1943 and embarked for New Guinea aboard "CANBERRA" on 24 Oct 1943 and re-joined the unit on 26 Nov 1943 as a Lieutenant and took over Adjutant duties in Headquarters Group. He returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. After leave and reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Lieutenant, Adjutant, Headquarters Group. George enlisted on 3 Nov 1939 and after training embarked for Middle East on 4 May 1940 and posted to 2/3rd Australian Field Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, on3 Aug 1940. He embarked with them for Greece on 31 Mar 1941 and then embarked for Crete on 3 Jun 1941. He returned to Australia aboard "DUNBAR CASTLE" on 17 Mar 1942. He transferred to Australian Independent Parachute Company on 25 Jan 1943 and then to 1st Australian Commando Training Battalion on 25 Feb 1943. He embarked for New Guinea aboard "KATOOMBA" on 22 Nov 1943, joined 2/2nd as a signaller on 28 Nov 1943 and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. Frank enlisted on 21 Jan 1941 and was a member of the First Reinforcements but did not sail with them.. He came to Timor aboard the HMAS "VOYAGER" and joined the unit as a Private on 23 Sept 1942. He served in No 4 Section, "B" Platoon and after the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hides” on 16 Dec 1942. Frank did not re-join the unit after return to Australia. He was discharged in absentia on 20 Jun 1946. On 22 Jun 1950 he was serving with the United States Army Air Force in the UK as an American Citizen.

Noel enlisted in the Citizens Military Force (Reserve) with Service No Q137328 on 23 Feb 1942. Posted to 7th Advanced Ordnance Work Shop on 31 Jul 1942 then to Armoured Corps Ordnance Work Shop on 31 Aug 1942. He transferred to the A.I.F. on 1 Sept 1942 and was transferred to 3rd Armoured Troops Work Shop on 24 Dec 1942. He was posted to 1st Australian Commando Training Battalion on25 Feb 1942 and joined the 2/2nd on 15 May 1943. He embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Trooper and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. He left the 2/2nd on 7 Nov and was discharged on 14 Nov 1944. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

Herbert Enlisted on 10 Sept 1941 and was a member of the First Reinforcements that arrive at Dili, Timor, aboard "KALOOMA" on 22 Jan 1942, prior to the Japanese landing. He joined the unit as a Private. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hides” on 16 Dec 1942. He transferred to 1sy Australian Commando Training Battalion as an Instructor on 19 Apr 1943, then to 18th Australian Workshop Company on 24 Apr 1944 and further to 21st Australian Workshop Company on 1 Mar 1946. He was promoted to paid Lance Corporal on 5 Jun 1946 and Corporal on 9 Sept 1946. He transferred to 5th Base Ordnance Depot 14 Nov 1946 and detached to 3rd Ordnance Vehicle Park on 3 Dec 1946. Herbert discharged on 8 Aug 1947. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

Jack enlisted in Citizen Military Force (Reserve) on 2 Dec 1941 and posted to 6th Armoured Car Regiment on 6 Dec 1941. He transferred to A.I.F. on 22 Sept 1942 and posted to 1st Australian Commando Training Squadron on 18 Mar 1943. He joined the unit on 15 May 1943 and embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard S.S. “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Trooper in No 2 Section, “A” Troop and was Medevac by plane to Australia on 2 Sept 1944. After medical treatment, he embarked for New Britain aboard “ORMISTON” on 14 Jul 1945 to re-join the unit on 28 Jul 1945 as a Trooper in No 2 Section, “A” Troop. He left the unit and returned to Australia aboard "DUNTROON" on 13 Jan 1946 and was discharged 25 Jan 1946. Frank transferred to 2/7th Commando Squadron on 7 Apr 1944 and embarked for Australia aboard “TAROONA” on 22 Apr 1944. He was discharged on 6 May 1945. Alfred enlisted on 23 Feb 1942 and was posted to 54th Infantry Battalion. He was posted to 1st Australian Commando Training Squadron on 25 Feb 1943 and after training, joined the unit on 15 May 1943 and embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard S.S. “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Trooper in No 1 Section, “A” Troop and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. After leave and reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Trooper in No 1 Section, “A” Troop. He left the unit and flew to new Guinea on 31 Jul 1945 and then flew to Australia on 3 Aug 1945. He was discharged on 11 Feb 1946. He joined the 2/2nd at Larrimah, Northern Territory, when unit returned from Timor as a Private on 25 Dec 1942. After leave and reorganization, he embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Trooper in No 5 Section, “B” Troop and was appointed Lance Corporal on 1 Jul 1943. He returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. After further leave and reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Lance Corporal in No 5 Section, “B” Troop. Whilst on New Britain he attended Course No 5, Flame Thrower School from 5 Jul to 9 Jul 1945. He transferred to the Australian Army Education Service on 29 Dec 1945 and promoted to Sergeant on 10 Jan 1946. He returned to Australia aboard "WESTRALIA" on 2 May 1946 and was discharged on 13 Jun 1946. He was in command of the Signallers responsible for building “Winnie the War Winner”. He returned to Australia on 20 Aug 1942 and was posted to Australian Corps Signals, Land Head Quarters (LHQ) on 21 Sept 1942. Was awarded a Commander in Chief Commendation Card for Timor on 13 Oct 1942. Transferred to Headquarters 3rd Company Signals, LHQ on 18 Dec 1942 and promoted Temporary Major on 6 Jan 1943, then transferred to Signals, 7th Australian Division, on 23 Mar 1943 and promoted Temporary Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) same day. He was Mentioned in Despatches, for Gallant and Distinguished Service, London Gazette, 25 May 1943 and in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette, No 119-3 Jun 1943. These are the two Gazettes for the Timor Campaign. He was promoted Major and retain the rank on Temp Lt Col on 6 Jan 1944, then embarked for New Guinea aboard "CANBERRA" on 26 Jul 1943. He was promoted to Lt Col on 11 May 1944 and returned to Australia on 17 May 1944. Awarded an Officer of the Military Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in the London Gazette, 6 Mar 1945, as a Captain Temporary Lieutenant Colonel. Citation:- Period- 1 Oct 1943 to 31 Mar 1944 Place- LAE, MARKHAM and RAMU VALLEY For outstanding gallantry and devotion to duty during the LAE, MARKHAN and RAMU VALLEY Campaign. Lt Col Parker Commanded 7 Div Sigs with skill, determination and initiative throughout. By reason of the distances covered the inter-communication problems were both difficult and of vital importance. Despite difficulties of climate and transportation Lt-Col Parker at all times provided the necessary signal channels. By his own drive and personal supervision of the forward elements of his command he imbued all ranks with his own enthusiasm and ensured success. Apart from his normal functions he has controlled throughout the campaign the supply of signal supplies for the whole Div. This added responsibility he discharged with the greatest success. He was discharged on 12 Mar 1946. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, Defence Medal, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below. He is now also entitled to the Australian Service Medal 1945-75 with a clasp. It is known he was awarded an Efficiency Decoration, date unknown.

Clifton (Cliff) enlisted on 4 Sept 1940 and posted to Australian Army Medical Corps, Recruit Training Depot on 18 Sept 1940. He was appointed Lance Corporal on 8 Nov 1940 and acting Corporal on 19 Nov 1940. He reverted to Private, appointed Lance Corporal again and posted to 2/12th Field Ambulance on 22 Nov 1940. William served in 22nd Light Horse Regiment, Citizens Military Forces (Reserves) for 3 years prior to transferring to the A.I.F. on 5 Dec 1940 and posted to 2/40th Battalion. He embarked for Timor on 8 Dec 1941 and joined the 2/2nd on Timor as a Private, from 2/40th Battalion, after the fall of Koepang, approx. March 1942. He was one of the former Koepang men, who moved to the village of Mape for intensive commando training and on 8 May 1942, Bill joined No 4 Section, "B" Platoon in August and served with them until evacuation. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” on 16 Dec 1942. He transferred to 2/12th battalion on 27 Jul 1943 and embarked for New Guinea with them aboard "KATOOMBA" on 17 Aug 1943. Kenneth served for 1 year with12/50th Battalion, a Citizens Military Force (Reserves) unit prior to enlisting in the A.I.F. on 24 Jun 1940 and was posted to 2/40th Battalion. He embarked for Timor on 8 Dec 1941 and joined the 2/2nd on Timor as a Private from 2/40th Battalion, after the fall of Koepang, approx. March 1942. He was one of the former Koepang men, who moved to the village of Mape for intensive commando training and on 8 May 1942, they were spread between the original sections. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” on 16 Dec 1942. He was posted to 2/12th Battalion on 23 Jun 1943 and embarked for New Guinea aboard "KATOOMBA" with them on 17 Aug 1943 but was medevac'd to Australia aboard Hospital Ship "MANUNDA" on 13 Jun 1944 and after treatment was transferred to Australian War Graves Maintenance Unit, Queensland on 27 Nov 1944. Charles (Vic) was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “S.S. ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Lance Corporal in Signals Section, Headquarters Group. He was involved with “Winnie the War Winner”. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” on 16 Dec 1942. Was promoted to Lance Sergeant 22 Dec 1942 and Acting Sergeant 6 Jun 1943. His rank of Sergeant was approved on 16 Jun 1943 and he embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard S.S. “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Sergeant in Signals Section, Headquarters Group and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. He left the unit on 26 Jan 1945 and was discharged on 7 Dec 1945. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

He embarked for New Guinea with them aboard "DUNTROON" on 27 Sept 1943 and returned to Australia on 2 Jun 1944. He was promoted Corporal 30 Nov 1944 and transferred to 2/1st Australian Composite Anti Aircraft Regiment Workshop on 27 Dec 1944. He embarked for Morotai aboard "SWATENHONDT" on 21 May 1945 and embarked for Balikpapan on 26 Jun 1945. He retuned to Australia aboard "SWATENHONDT" on 8 Jan 1946 and was discharged on 1 Feb 1946.
