    Kenneth Tasman Hogg

    Ken was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “S.S. ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Private in No 7 Section, “C” Platoon. He was Killed in Action, 20 Feb 1942, when the Ration Truck was caught in an ambush, during the first landing of the Japanese on Timor. He is commemorated on the Northern Territory Memorial, Panel 3. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.
  2. Herbert was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Private in No 8 Section, “C” Platoon. We have an embarkation sheet stating he embarked for Darwin aboard “KURU” on 17 Sept 1942, but his service papers have "HMAS KALGOORLIE", same date. After hospitalization and numerous other postings, he transferred to 1st Australian Commando Training Battalion on 29 May 1943 and was discharged on 1 Nov 1944. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

    Percy HANCOCK

    Percy was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “S.S. ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Signalman in Signals Section, Headquarters Group. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” on 16 Dec 1942. After Timor he transferred as an Instructor to 1st Commando Training Battalion on 17 May 1943. He then transferred to Fort Signals, W.A. on 20 Dec 1943 and was discharged from the A.I.F. on 27 Jul 1944 and promptly joined the Royal Australian Air Force with service No 455097 serving as a Leading Aircraftman in 14th Squadron R.A.A.F. His service papers for the R.A.A.F. are not yet available, so his service details are not complete. He was discharged on 29 Nov 1945. Percy was made a Life Member of the Association in 1975. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.
  4. Ernest enlisted in the Citizens Military Forces with Service No V125260 on 18 Jul 1940, he was posted to 29th Infantry Battalion. He transferred to the A.I.F. on 29 Jan 1943 and transferred to 1st Australian Commando Training Battalion on 23 Feb 1943. after training he was posted to the 2/2nd on 15 May 1943 and embarked with the unit for New Guinea as a Trooper aboard “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943. He was wounded in the Right Thigh on 30 Jul 1943 and was medevac'd aboard 2/1st Australian Hospital Ship on 6 Oct 1943. After medical treatment, he was discharged on 11 Jul 1944. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.
  5. Edmund served in various Signals units prior to joining the 33rd line Section Royal Australian Signals Corps. He embarked for New Britain aboard "TAROONA" on 9 Apr 1945 and joined the unit at Jacquinot Bay, New Britain, on 27 Jun 1945. He served with the unit as a Trooper in No 7 section, “C” Troop. Edmund was a member of the ‘Long Patrol’ of July 1945. A 10 day patrol which became 24 days of physical exhaustion. He transferred to 3rd Operating Section on 26 Dec 1945 and was discharged on 15 May 1946. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below. He is now also entitled to the Australian Service Medal 1945-75 with a clasp "S.W.Pacific".

    William CHEVERTON

    William enlisted in the Citizens Military Force (Reserves) with Service No V195953 on 12 Jan 1942 and was posted to 23/21st Infantry Battalion. He transferred to 4th Infantry Training Battalion on 29 Apr 1942 and then to 2nd Infantry Training Battalion on 20 Jul 1942. He was promoted Acting Corporal on 1 Nov 1942 and transferred to the A.I.F. on 8 Feb 1943. He was posted to 1st Australian Commando Training Battalion on 1 Mar 1943 and joined the 2/2nd at Canungra, Qld on 15 May 1943. He embarked with the unit as an Acting Corporal in No 4 Sect, “B” Troop for New Guinea aboard “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943. He was Killed in Action, at Faita, New Guinea, 27 Aug 1943. He is buried at LAE War Cemetery, Plot F, Row B, Grave 2. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

Theodore enlisted in the Citizens Military Force (Reserves) on 23 Dec 1941 with service No V225909 and was called up for full time duty on 9 Apr 1942 and posted to Camp Head Quarters, Watsonia on 31 May 1942. He transferred to the A.I.F. on 24 Dec 1942 and attended Signals Training. He embarked for New Guinea aboard “GORGON” on 7 Jan 1944 as a Signaller and joined the 2/2nd Headquarters Group on 21 Jan 1944 and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. After leave and reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Signaller in Headquarters Group. He returned to Australia aboard "KATOOMBA" on 3 May 1945 and after numerous postings in Australia he was discharged on 21 Aug 1946. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

    Hubert Edwin BACHE

    Hubert enlisted into the Australian Military Forces, (Militia) on 16 Feb 1939 with Service No 93542 and was poster to 16th Field Ambulance, Australian Army Medical Corps (AAMC). He was appointed Lance Corporal on 16 Oct 1940. He transferred to 2nd Cavalry Field Hygiene Section (2CFHS) on 10 Jan 1941. He was promoted Corporal on 4 Sept 1941, was posted to 8th Light Horse on 29 Sept 1941 and was called up for full time service on 7 Nov 1941, then transferred to 3rd CFHS on 30 Nov 1941. Hubert had special training at Geelong and Heidelberg Hospitals in both the Casualty and Theatre Sections. He attended Sydney University’s Army Tropical Medical School and was promoted to Acting Sergeant on 14 Mar 1942. He transferred to 26th Australian Motor Regiment on 8 Oct 1942. He enlisted into the AIF on 3 Nov 1942 with Service No VX115800, still serving with 26th Australian Motor Regiment. Hubert was Australian Army Medical Corps instructor for 1st Armoured Division at Moora, W.A. He joined the 2/2nd on 21 Dec 1944 and embarked with them for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 as the Medical Sergeant in the Headquarters Group. When the unit was disbanded, he returned to Australia on 6 Mar 1946 and was discharged on 2 Jul 1946. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below. He is now also entitled to the Australian Service Medal 1945-75 with a clasp "PNG"
  9. Frederick enlisted in the Citizen Military Forces (Reserve) on 10 Sept 1940 with Service No V43027 and was called up for full time service on 31 Oct 1941. He was posted to 57/60th Infantry Battalion and was appointed Lance Corporal on 26 Dec 1941. He transferred to the A.I.F. on 22 Sept 1942 and reverted to Private at his own request on 26 Dec 1942 . He transferred to 1st Australian Commando Training Battalion on 26 Feb 1943, then joined the 2/2nd at Canungra, Qld on 25 May 1943. Fred embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Trooper in No 6 Sect, “B” troop and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. After leave and reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Trooper in No 6 Sect, “B” Troop. He transferred to 29/46th Infantry Battalion on 27 Dec 1945 and returned to Australia on 29 Jan 1946. He was discharged 28 Jun 1946. He joined the 2/2nd on 15 May 1943 and embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Trooper in No 7 Sect, “C” Troop and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. He was posted to 1st Australian Independent Parachute Company on 3 Feb 1943 and then to 1st Australian Commando Training Battalion on 25 Feb 1943. He joined the 2/2nd on 15 May 1943 and embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Trooper and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. After leave and reorganization, he was appointed Lance Corporal and embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Lance Corporal. Whilst on New Britain he attended Course No 5, Flame Thrower School from 5 Jul to 9 Jul 1945. He transferred to 29/46th Infantry Battalion on 26 Dec 1945 and returned to Australia on 14 Feb 1946.   12. Leith enlisted in Citizen Military Force (Reserves) on 16 Dec 1940 and was posted to 10th Infantry Training Battalion on 16 Feb 1942. He transferred to the A.I.F. on 15 Sept 1942 and posted to 1st Australian Commando Training Squadron on 25 Feb 1943. He reverted to Private at his own request and joined the unit on 15 May 1943. He embarked with the unit for New Guinea as a Trooper in No 8 Section, “C” Troop aboard S.S. “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943. He was appointed paid Lance Corporal on 1 Jul 1943 and transferred to New Guinea Infantry Battalion on 1 May 1944, he was promoted to Sergeant 20 May 1944 and then to Warrant Officer Class II on 3 Oct 1944. Emplaned from NADZAD and deplaned at Townsville Qld on 6 Oct 1944. He transferred to Intelligence Corps and served last 6 months of the war with Military History Section of the Army. Leith was discharged on 24 Dec 1945. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.

Albert enlisted on 8 Feb 1943 and was posted to 2nd Armoured Corps Training Regiment on 11 Feb 1943 as a signaller and then to 2/7th Australian Cavalry Commando Regiment for training on 24 Sept 1943. He embarked for New Guinea aboard "GORGON" on 7 Jan 1944 and joined the unit as a Signalman in the Signals Section, Headquarters Group on 24 Jan 1944 and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. He transferred to 5th Australian Cypher Section on 11 Jan 1945 and then to Land Headquarters Cipher Section on 9 Feb 1945, then "B" Detachment, 3rd Australian Cipher Section, Attached to 3rd Australian Infantry Brigade Signals Section and embarked for MOTORAI aboard "SEA BARB" on 16 Jun 1945. He was promoted Corporal on 29 Jul 1945, embarked for AMBON aboard "WESTRALIA" on 25 Sept 1945, enplaned to Australia on 22 Nov 1945 and was discharged on 18 Jan 1946. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below. Robert was Medevac to Australia aboard 2/1st Hospital ship on 24 Jun 1944. He re-joined the unit in Queensland on 20 Sept 1944. After further leave and reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Trooper in No 9 Section, “C” Troop. On 26 Dec 1945, he transferred to 53rd Port Craft Company, then to 56th Port Landing Craft Company on 28 Jan 1946. He returned to Australia aboard "DUNTROON" on 1 Mar 1946 and was discharged 19 Jun 1946.   19. Thomas enlisted in to the Reserve on 2 Jul 1941 and was posted to 5th Works and Parks Company, Royal Australian Engineers (RAE) on 19 Jul 1941 as a Draftsman. On 30 Jan 1942 he was transferred to RAE Headquarters and detached to 20th Army Field Company, RAE on 29 Mar 1942. He returned to HQ, RAE on 9 Apr 1942 and entrained for 5th Military District (Western Australia) on 17 Apr 1942. Whilst in WA he transferred to the A.I.F. on 5 Mar 1942 and transferred to 1st Australian Commando Training Battalion at Canungra, Qld on 25 Feb 1943. He joined the unit on 15 May 1943 and embarked with the unit for New Guinea as a Trooper aboard S.S. “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. After leave and reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Trooper. He transferred to the A.I.F. on 8 Sept 1942 and given Service No VX84174. Arch was posted to 1st Australian Commando Training Battalion on 29 Mar 1943 and after training, embarked aboard "KATOOMBA" for New Guinea on 27 Aug 1943. He joined the unit on New Guinea on 2 Nov 1942 as a Trooper in No 5 Sect, “B” Troop and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. After leave and reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a trooper in No 5 Sect, “B” Troop. He transferred to 12th Army Troops on 24 Dec 1945 and returned to Australia on 9 May 1946. He was discharged on 13 Aug 1946.     Keith enlisted in the Citizens Military Force (Reserves) on 23 Dec 1941 and was posted to 2nd Australian Motorised Division, Army Service Corps. He transferred to the A.I.F. on 17 Jul 1942 and was posted to 1st Australian Commando Training Battalion on 22 Mar 1943. He joined the 2/2nd on 15 May 1943 and embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Trooper in No 8 Sect, “C” Troop and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944.     John enlisted on 10 Feb 1942 and attended the Guerrilla Warfare School on 22 Apr 1942. He embarked for New Guinea on 17 Feb 1943 and joined the 2/2nd in New Guinea as a Trooper on 28 Nov 1943, serving in No 10 Sect, Headquarters Group. He returned to Australia aboard "KATOOMBA" on 27 Feb 1944. He embarked for New Guinea aboard "ORMISTON" on 2 Jul 1944 and re-joined the 2/2nd on 8 Jul 1944, returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. He was discharged on 31 May 1946.
