Hi Yvonne
Here's a link to a story about the support that the association gave to SAIS.

Is this what you were after?
Kind regards

Hi Ed
I was away when you posted this and I've only just seen it.
Just like the story of the 2/2, the awful history of the sexual slavery imposed by the Japanese on girls and women in the areas they occupied should be much more widely known.
Great work.

I see that the autographs have a category for "respectable types" and "border line cases", with only a few placing themselves in the former category and most squeezing in on the latter.
The last of the translations at the top of each of those pages seems to be Pidgin. Gutpela is "good fella", so the first category is for good fella men.
In the second category, "liklik" is little. Therefore, "Gutpela liklik" is for blokes who are only a little bit good...

And I enjoyed the reference to "Liquid refreshment".
Who would have thought these chaps would have such a thing?
-
Thanks, Beau.
That's wonderful.
Great to see the autographs, too.
Cheers

A Jack Williams recently posted a query about the medals of Alfred Peters. Unfortunately, that query was made in the form of a now-defunct "report" function, which was intended for the reporting of inappropriate posts. Jack, if you would like assistance with your query, please post it again on this thread.
Kind regards

Hi Trevor
Thanks for the update and the photo.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Thanks, Ed. Very interesting.
At some point, I think it would be good for us to put together a brief history of our memorial, including photos and snippets from Courier.

On a recent trip to Scotland, I was fortunate enough to visit Britain's Commando Memorial, near Fort William, in Lochaber.
This inspirational monument looks towards Ben Nevis and over the training area for British commandos that was established in 1942.
I was delighted to see that the memorial is a real tourist attraction. When we were there, the car-park was pretty full and there were several busloads of tourists as well.
Lest we forget.

Hi Ed
I've only just read this post. Sorry.
Thanks for writing it. The links are fascinating, too.
He was an amazing fellow. The 2/2 was very fortunate to have the benefit of his expertise and bravery.
The amazing life story of Mad Mike Calvert would easily find its way to the big screen. The hard part would be getting the right balance between paying appropriate tribute to his role in the development of commando warfare, while acknowledging the difficulties he faced after the war.
Thanks again

Hi Jim
Cyril Ayris's book All the Bull's Men contains numerous references to David Ross. An excerpt can be seen here.
If you can't find a copy for sale, a library may be the best bet.
Kind regards
