  15. Timor Leste Vision is holding a Quiz Night, raising money for the installation of a water and sanitation system in the village of Rialeco which is in urgent need. There are 60 families in Rialeco which has 420 community members (310 adults and 110 children) and Timor Leste Vision, together with their volunteer team in Timor, will be installing water and sanitation to public sites selected by the community. The quiz night is on Friday 3 November 2017 and is being held at the South Perth Community Hall, cnr Sandgate Street and South Terrace, South Perth. Tickets are $20.00 each and can be purchased at www.trybooking.com/RLEE. For more information, contact Joanne at joanne.pollard@iinet.net.au.

    Jack CAIN

    Jack joined the unit at Canungra, Qld and embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Trooper. He was discharged on 31 May 1946.
  19. Ray enlisted into the Citizens Military Forces (Reserve) on 10 Oct 1940 and was called up for full time service on 12 Feb 1942, joining 9th Motor Regiment as a Trooper with service No S6488. He transferred to 4th Motor Regiment on 5 Oct 1942. He transferred to the A.I.F. with Service No SX32148 on 12 Jun 1943. Transferred to 21st Australian Infantry Training Battalion on 17 Aug 1944 and then to Jungle warfare Training Centre, Canungra, Qld on 20 Nov 1944. Ray joined the unit at Canungra, Qld on 31 Jan 1945 and embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Trooper. He returned to Australia aboard "TAROONA" on 15 Sept 1945 and was discharged on 2 Apr 1946. He was entitled to the Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below. But could now be entitled to a 1939-45 Star.

    Jack FOX

    Jack joined the Permanent Military Forces of Australia on 19 May 1936 and served with the following prior to the Japanese entry into the war. 3rd Light Horse regiment (CMF), Royal Australian Engineers, Australian Instructional Corps, 52nd Infantry Battalion and 46th Infantry Battalion. After which he attended the Royal Military College, Duntroon. He was commissioned on 30 Jun 1942 and served with 10th Aust Infantry Battalion until transferr to the unit to setup a staging section in the Northern Territory on 25 Nov 1942. He joined the unit on their return from Timor at Larrimah, NT, December 1942. After the unit reorganized, he embarked with the unit for New Guinea as a Lieutenant, the Unit Adjutant, Headquarters Group aboard S.S. “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. After leave and further reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Captain, Officer Commanding, No 6 Section, “B” Troop. He was the units Demobilisation Officer and continued serving with the Australian Army, with service No 456, with the following. Victorian Scottish Regiment, School of Tactics and Administration HQ 3rd Division, Army Apprentice School, 22 Royal Victorian Regiment and AHQ, Army Records Office. He was placed on the retired list as a Lieutenant Colonel on 20 Nov 1972.
  21. Kelvin joined the Australian Military Forces (Militia) with service number S61146 and served with 9th Motor Regiment from Dec 1942 to Jan 1943. He was selected for commando training at 1st Australian Commando Training Squadron and joined the unit on 15 May 1943 in Queensland. After leave and reorganization, he embarked with the unit as a Trooper in No 6 Section, “B” Troop for New Guinea aboard S.S. “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. After further leave and reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a trooper in No 6 Section, “B” Troop. He was transferred on the 20 Jan 1946 to 13th Small Ships Company and returned to Australia on 7 Feb 1946 and was discharged on 1 Jul 1946. He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below. He is now also entitled to the Australian Service Medal 1945-75 with a clasp "S.W.Pacific".
  22. William embarked with the unit for New Guinea aboard S.S. “DUNTROON” on 17 Jun 1943 as a Trooper and returned to Australia with them aboard “TAROONA” on 3 Sept 1944. After leave and reorganization, he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Trooper. He was discharged on 29 May 1946.
