    William (Bill) was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “S.S. ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Signaller in Signals Section, Headquarters Group. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” on 11 Dec 1942.

    Transferred to 1st Lines of Communication Provost Company on 22 Apr 1943 and was promoted to Acting Corporal on 7 May 1943. Bill attended No 15 Qld Lines of Communication Area Junior Leaders Course from 15 Jun to 29 Jun 1943 and was confirmed Corporal on 3 Mar 1944. He transferred to W.A. Lines of Communication on 20 Oct 1945 and was discharged on 13 Dec 1945.

    He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.
