    Clarence enlisted on 27 May 1941 and was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Private in No 9 Section, “C” Platoon. He was Medevac'd from Timor by Catalina flying boat on 24 May 1942.

    Clarrie was transferred to 22nd Employment Company on 25 Jun 1943, 23rd Australian Garrison Battalion on 11 Aug 1943, 19th Australian Garrison Battalion on 28 Jan 1944, Australian Training Centre (Jungle Warfare) on 15 Jan 1945. He embarked for Moratai aboard "KAMIMBLA" on 2 May 1945 and joined 2/16th Infantry Battalion on 11 May 1945.

    He returned to Australia aboard "MORETON BAY" on 19 Dec 1945 and was discharged on 14 Jan 1946.

    Clarence was made a Life member of the Association in 1971.

    He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below. He is now also entitled to the Australian Service Medal 1945-75 with a clasp
