    Charles was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Private in No 1 Section, “A” Platoon.

    He embarked from Timor aboard HMAS "KALGOORLIE" on 13 Sept 1942 and transferred out of the unit on 23 Oct 1943.

    Charles was discharged on 30 Nov 1944.
