    Bernard enlisted on 21 Apr 1942 and served with 10th Light Horse prior to joining the unit on 31 Jan 1945 and he embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 as a Trooper in No 9 Sect, “C” Troop.

    He left the unit on 1 Nov 1945 and transferred to District Finance Office at Subiaco, WA, being promoted Corporal then Sergeant.

    He was discharged on 20 Nov 1946.

    Made a Life member of the 2/2 Commando Association in 1971 and Returned Services League of WA.
