Ronald enlisted on 19 Jun 1940 and posted to Guerrilla Warfare Centre at Foster, Vict on 26 Feb 1941. He was an original member of the unit, embarking aboard “S.S. ZEALANDIA” on 8 Dec 1941 for Timor as a Private in “Q” Staff, Headquarters Group. He was accidently shot and killed on 15 Dec 1941 at Koepang. Prior to the unit proceeding to Portuguese Timor. Even though his body was buried at Koepang, it was lost when the Japanese invaded Timor. He is commemorated on Panel 3, NORTHERN TERRITORY MEMORIAL.
He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below.
