    Keith was a member of the First Reinforcements that arrive at Dili, Timor, aboard M.V. “Koolama”, on 22 Jan 1942, prior to the Japanese landing. He joined the unit as a Private. After the campaign on Timor, he embarked with the unit, for Australia aboard the Royal Dutch destroyer “Tjerk Hiddes” on 16 Dec 1942.

    On return to Australia he transferred to numerous postings within Australia. On 12 Mar 1946 he transferred to 34th Infantry Brigade and embarked for JAPAN aboard "DUNTROON", arriving at KURE on 9 Apr 1946, then transferred to 65th Australian Infantry Battalion on 10 Apr 1946. Promoted Acting Corporal on 12 May 1947 and Corporal on 10 Oct 1947.

    He returned to Australia and was discharged 16 Aug 1948. He enlisted into Regular Army Special Reserve on 17 Aug 1948 with service number 80448.

    He was entitled to the 1939-45 Star, Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below. He is now also entitled to the Australian Service Medal 1945-75 with a clasp "JAPAN".
