  1. Another note - Harry was named Citizen of the Year for his town of Singleton in 2006, and has received two notable honours within Rotary (Paul Harris Pin and Sapphire Pin).

This article shares more about his background and life. Regarding his military service:
"After studying a diploma in agriculture at the Hawkesbury Agricultural College he soon found himself in the army in 1942 and the following four years engaged in field intelligence, spending the final stages of World War II in New Britain.  He was then posted to headquarters Southern Command in Melbourne."

  2. Harry is my grandfather. He turns 99 this month, and is still living in his own home! His life of service to community in his local town included rotary and his legacy ladies, the high school board, the church he attended, and so much more. When my grandmother (his one and only love, married over 65 years) passed 18 months ago, 200 people showed up to the church on a weekday afternoon to honour them both. I went to the town's ANZAC Day service with them both a few years ago, where seats were reserved for us. Pa wore his medals, and I wore his father's medals. We all wore rosemary from Pa's own garden.
