Would the 2/2 have been regarded as operational when Dad joined them on 30 Jan 1945, or did this only happen once they landed in New Britain. My father, Trooper Robert Coleman Noakes was taken on strength of the 2/2 Commando Squadron on 30 January 1945 and embarked on the Taroona for Jaquinot Bay on 9 April 1945. He was previously in 2/11 Armoured Car Regiment. He remained with the unit until it was disbanded. I would like to learn more about the activities of the Squadron over the period until the end of the war. I would be grateful for any assistance in this. Yours sincerely Robert Noakes
