    • Regimental Number: SX32148

    Ray enlisted into the Citizens Military Forces (Reserve) on 10 Oct 1940 and was called up for full time service on 12 Feb 1942, joining 9th Motor Regiment as a Trooper with service No S6488. He transferred to 4th Motor Regiment on 5 Oct 1942. He transferred to the A.I.F. with Service No SX32148 on 12 Jun 1943. Transferred to 21st Australian Infantry Training Battalion on 17 Aug 1944 and then to Jungle warfare Training Centre, Canungra, Qld on 20 Nov 1944.

    Ray joined the unit at Canungra, Qld on 31 Jan 1945 and embarked for New Britain aboard “TAROONA” on 9 Apr 1945 with the unit as a Trooper.

    He returned to Australia aboard "TAROONA" on 15 Sept 1945 and was discharged on 2 Apr 1946.

    He was entitled to the Pacific Star, War Medal and Australian Service Medal 1939-45, pictured below. But could now be entitled to a 1939-45 Star.
